A near-optimum medium access protocol based on the distributed queueing random access protocol (DQRAP) for a CDMA third generation mobile communication system

This paper presents and analyses a new near–\udoptimum random access protocol. The proposed access\udscheme is suitable for a CDMA environment and\udminimises the total number of spreading codes needed to\udachieve a certain throughput. It is based on distributed\udqueues and a collision resolution algorithm. Computer\udsimulations have been carried out to validate the\udanalytical model and the obtained results show that the\udprotocol has very good stability and delay performance,\udeven compared with medium access protocols using\udmore available spreading codes
